We're from the same planet

Last Sunday in front of the Telegraph a small street fest took place, inviting people to the park in Velká Bystřice for an event called We are from the same planet. How did this connection come about, you may ask?

The essence of the We are from the same planet project is the symbolic rooting of foreigners living in the Czech Republic in their second homeland and connecting people from different parts of the world. This is the seventh year that this event has been held in Velká Bystřice and the central theme of this year's event is coffee, coffee culture, and therefore the culture of South American countries (Brazil, Uganda, Colombia, Ecuador) and Vietnam.

With the Telegraph, this project shares both a common mission - to bring people together - but also the people around the project itself. The main organisers, Hana Bělařová and Josef Janeček, joined forces with Robert Runták, the founder of the Telegraph, who supported them financially in their activities. At the same time, part of the programme of the zero year of We are from the same planet was also the popular PechaKucha Night, which was started in Olomouc by Alžběta Smejkalová, the current manager of Telegraph. And it certainly doesn't end there. Thanks to PechaKucha Night, Alžběta met the founders of the architectural Barley Studio, which gave the Telegraph its current look. You would find countless similar connections in and between the two projects.

Already last year, the organizers of We are from the same planet in Olomouc organized a "street" event that was supposed to invite people to Velká Bystřice. And this year they decided to repeat everything with some changes. "We all see the power in connecting together, we like to meet over good food and coffee. We like the atmosphere of meeting together, when new friendships are formed and those we already have are strengthened. That's why we organize these "street invitations" to Bystřice, and why we wanted to do one with the Telegraph," says Hana Bělařová.

What are the organisers inviting to Velké Bystřice this time? To delicious coffee and food, of course - the entire park will be filled with stalls of cafes, bistros, bakers and bakery chefs. Various activities for children, a concert and dance performances, coffee workshops and of course PechaKucha Night in the evening are planned. Coffee and friendship will be the main thread connecting the presenters.

So don't be shy and come to Velké Bystřice on Saturday, June 11. It starts at 11 a.m.
