A series of short films made by FAMU students for the youngest viewers takes us to different worlds - to meet many strange creatures, but also to school desks or children's rooms. The films, which will entertain viewers of all ages, include fantastical stories, adventure tales, comic sketches, and more serious themes. All this is presented using a variety of animation techniques - from drawings on paper or computer, through sand animation, to puppets and stop-motion.
The opening film Chybička se vloudí (A Mistake Goes Wrong) by director Aneta Kýrová Žabková tells the story of the fatal mistake of a heron delivery service and its consequences with grotesque exaggeration. The romance from school desks will be shown in Marie, a stop-motion film by director Jan B. Piskač. A brave beetle will also visit the school environment on her adventurous journey in story by Eva Matejovičová, O lýkožroutce (About a bark-beetle). Two animated films deal with the theme of cats with humour and playfulness - Zmáčknutý (Squeezed) by Teodor Matejovič and a the plasticine animation Kočky jsou tekuté (Cats are Liquid) by Natalia Durchánková. The audience will also be entertained by short anecdotes, such as Petr Mischinger's 659 and Andrea Szelesová's puppet Afternoon Tea. The battle with the annoying germs that attack children is made by Kateřina Karhánková in Tonda a bacil (Tonda and the Germ). The main character of the film Dotknout se tmy (Touching the Darkness), created by Jamaica Kindlová using sand animation, shows off his superpowers. A more serious theme will be brought by Ester Kasalová's The World I Live In, which tells in an empathetic way that it is better to look at the world around us instead of the screen, or Philipp Kastner's melancholic film about the loss of his beloved dog, Deniska Died, which has moved young and old viewers around the world.
