The More You Fuck Around The More You Find Out is the pilot work of Crystaldom, a project that Michal Durda is currently developing as his forthcoming bachelor's degree project. It explores the possibility of bringing together the themes of the chemical Anthropocene, queer intimacy and transhumanism. Here, the fantastical world of chemical kinship functions as a speculative space for seeking a new language through which chemsex and its material, social and affective dimensions can be considered beyond moralising cisheteronormative frameworks.

Inspired by the phenomenon of chemsex, the installation consists of three garment-based sculptural objects representing a selected queer kinkster subculture. These figures also appear in an audio track conceived as a post-coital conversation, in which each opens up its own thematic strand. These individual thematic layers subsequently converge into a single, shared, multilayered body: the crystaldom. Played through mobile phones, the audio track explores queer ecological kinships and takes the form of an intimate private conversation, allowing this complex subject matter to unfold in an accessible, everyday form. The mobile phones function as a symbolic gateway into a space of intimacy.

Michal Durda (*2002, Třebíč) is an emerging visual artist and performer. Since 2020, he has been studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno (FaVU), in the Body Design Studio. During his studies, he also completed a two-semester internship in the New Media II Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU), as well as a one-semester internship at FaVU under the supervision of Julischka Stengele.

His practice focuses on the evolving canon of queer identity and intimacy. Through the tension between informed narrative and provocative queer aesthetics, he addresses the lived experience of contemporary non-normative identities. His work is grounded in performance, which he understands as a tool of affirmation through embodiment. His performances subsequently give rise to video essays and installations that extend the originally ephemeral experience, transforming it into an intermedial form that enables it to be re-presented in new ways.

In 2024, he presented an immersive installation as part of a group exhibition at the Prague Pride Festival. His performative projects have also been shown at the Festival of Naked Forms in Lviv and Gdańsk, the International Multimedia Art Festival in Novi Sad, and as part of the Liquid Queer Memorial project at Troja Château in Prague in 2023. In 2025, he held his first solo exhibition, Kurwa Kurwie Łba Nie Urwie, at Umakart Gallery in Brno. His work Peg the Fag: Manifesto was published by the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the 2025 anthology Transformations of Masculinities. He is currently engaged in collaborative performative practice as a member of the collective Izbová Teplota, which made its debut at Modranský Kabaret in 2026.
