Twelve-year-old Bailey (Nykiya Adams) lives with her loving but irresponsible father Bug (Barry Keoghan) and rebellious brother Hunter (Jason Buda) in a small town in the East of England. When a mysterious stranger named Bird (Franz Rogowski) suddenly enters her life, Bailey longs to spread her wings and leave her fractured home. The queen of European independent film, Andrea Arnold (The Wasp, Fish Tank), returns to the Cannes Film Festival after eight years with a magical coming-of-age tale that is given power by brilliant performances. This is contrastingly complemented by a soundtrack of prominent names from the British music scene.
