The July TTalk will host the new rector of Palacký University in Olomouc, who took office this May. Michael Kohajda comes from Šumperk, where he also lives and serves as a councillor. He has been an academic at the Olomouc Law Faculty for more than twenty years. Since 2020, he has held the position of vice-dean in addition to his teaching and scientific work. His expertise focuses on financial law, especially on public budgets, taxation, banking, insurance and capital markets, but also on crypto-assets and their potential impact on state sovereignty. As part of international cooperation, he has completed a number of international research and teaching stays in Europe, the USA and Australia. In addition to his academic activities, he has also successfully practiced law. In 2021, thanks to preferential votes, he won a seat in the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the Olomouc Region.
