In the framework of the exhibition Signal V, which will focus on objects from the Robert Runták Collection, the artist David Možný will also present his work. He will also be presenting his work at the Telegraph as part of his artist talk.

David Možný (*1963) is a contemporary Czech visual artist who works with digitally generated images, creating videos, animations, objects and, most recently, complex site-specific installations that often in some way disrupt or challenge the very space in which they are placed. In addition to computers and 3D visualisation software, he uses a wide range of materials and found objects to create them, most of which have lost their original purpose and remain as relics of recent history. The effect of his realisations is then enhanced by precise processing, in which the unlikely becomes real through seemingly minimal interventions and modifications. The visitor can thus be exposed to an almost physical experience that encourages him or her to make his or her own interpretations, to see the world in a new way and to change his or her own attitudes. The possible invites the visitor to become, for a brief moment, an inhabitant of a fictional world that reflects the nature of the real one in a specifically disturbing way. Similar expectations are also in place in the case of his latest realisation, which was created specifically for the new space of the Etcetera gallery.

David Možný is rather a solitary figure on the domestic art scene, but he represented the Czech Republic at the Prague Quadriannale 2023 with the installation Limbo Hardware, for which he received, among others, the prize for the Best Concept of the Exhibition of Countries and Regions. In 2010, his video Rahova won the 1st prize at the Olomouc Animation Film Festival. He was the first Czech artist represented at the onedotzero digital video festival at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. For his video Virtual Soul Waste he won the first prize at the Bitfilm festival in Hamburg in 2004. He is represented in many domestic and international collections.
