Science in Film is a series of film screenings accompanied by an educational lecture. In collaboration with the UP Crowd, we are popularizing various scientific disciplines through film. Art and science are simply a match.

The plot of this British sci-fi thriller, directed by respected director Danny Boyle, is set in the year 2057 aboard the spaceship Icarus 2, whose eight-man crew is tasked with dropping a giant nuclear device on the dying sun to reawaken them to action. If this fails, the home planet, ravaged by solar winter, will perish. After sixteen months of a grueling journey, the ship is damaged, communication with Earth is lost, and there is unexpected contact with the wreckage of the Icarus 1, which was sent on the same mission seven years ago but disappeared without a trace. The crew wants to find out what happened, but after the two spacecrafts are reunited, the mutant Captain Pinbacker comes aboard and tries to thwart the rescue mission at all costs. The future of Earth hangs in the balance... This dynamic spectacle, bursting with effects, stars Cillian Murphy, Chris Evans, Rose Byrne, Michelle Yeoh, etc.

Our guest and presenter will be JIŘÍ KVITA.
