December: What does the gallery do?

28 11 2025 | Author: Eliška Skácelová

If you visit the Telegraph Gallery regularly, you will know that our programme goes beyond the gallery space. In addition to long-running exhibitions, there are pop-up exhibitions in the cinema and loft throughout the year, as well as residencies by Czech and international artists, always ending with an Open Studio in their studio. You can also look forward to lecture series focusing on the work of contemporary artists, the work of curators, and on the collecting of contemporary art with collectors, gallerists and curators.

How about making the arrival of Santa more pleasant with a packed programme at the Telegraph? Last month you can hear talks by artists and collectors, plus watch art-related films.

3 12 2025 / 18:00 Artist Presentation: Tomáš Ruller

The beginning of December brings the continuation of a lecture series devoted to contemporary artists. The next lecturer to present his work as part of Artist Presentations is Tomáš Ruller. An action artist, performer, and educator, Ruller explores various forms of artistic creation in his work, such as sculpture, installation, painting, and multimedia, combining classical techniques with contemporary forms of expression. He has already presented his work at the Telegraph Gallery in the exhibition Signal IV: The Eighties, which reflected his involvement in the unofficial art scene during his studies. Now he will answer questions about the beginnings of his artistic career and specific works of art.

11 12 2025 / 18:00 Contemporary Art Collecting: Nikolas Bernáth

The next lecture of the month is from our well-known Contemporary Art Collecting series. This time, the lecture will be led by Nikolas Bernáth, director of the VUNU gallery, which operates in Vienna, Bratislava, and Košice. In his practice, he focuses on pseudodrama and also deals with the themes of intra-action and performativity in relation to objects, bodies, and moving images.

A discussion with the aforementioned director Jan Strejcovský and producer Jakub Wágner will follow.

17 12 2025 / 18:00 Open studio + Open studio + artist presentation: Jan Durina

Slovak interdisciplinary artist Jan Durina is currently in residence during the months of November and December. Through performance, photography, and sound, Durina explores the nuances of narrative and addresses themes such as loneliness, loss, the boundaries between body and nature, and the distortions of the human mind as experienced within changing notions of gender and identity.

During November's Design Days Olomouc, you had the opportunity to peek into the Loft, where he exhibited his work together with artist Michaela Spružinová.

This time he will present his works in the Open Studio, directly in the studio. The program will then continue with the presentation of Jan Durina's artistic life itself.

Have a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
