The author of the current mural, which you can currently see on the walls of the Telegraph, is artist Monika Žáková. Her work is characterized by a clean and minimalist style, which is also evident in the current mural, which depicts the folding and straightening of paper.
After three years, the facade will be changed and the new artist to take on this creative challenge will be Rita Koszorús. Telegraph has been working with this artist for a long time – she stayed with us as a resident and presented her work as part of Open Studio, led an art workshop for TLG Club members, and also appeared in a series of art presentations. In addition, we have also published her original graphic works.
And as if that weren't enough, in a few weeks she will be the author of a new, more colorful mural on the Telegraph building! But you can shorten the wait for the mural and come see her works, which are currently on display on the Telegraph staircase.
Rita Koszorús (*1989, Bratislava) is a Slovak visual artist who explores themes such as identity and the search for home in her work. She uses abstraction, collage, and material work, often layering textiles, canvas, and industrial textures to challenge our visual perception and ways of categorization. Her images appear illusory—she composes two-dimensional paintings from fragments imitating various layers of materials, which she then develops into specific installations.
She studied at the Josef Vydra Academy of Applied Arts in Bratislava and, from 2008 to 2014, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, first at the Department of Free Graphics and then in the painting studio under Prof. Daniel Fischer. In 2013, she completed an internship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest with Imre Bukta and participated in several international residencies in Berlin, Paris, Porto, and Budapest.
Rita Koszorús actively presents her work in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. She is a four-time finalist in the Painting of the Year competition, a finalist in the Novum Foundation competition, and in 2021 she won first place in the VÚB Painting of the Year competition. Her works are part of private and gallery collections, and she is represented by the VILTIN gallery in Budapest.
